It's That Time of Year Again
As the calendar turns to May, those of us who infuse music into our lives on a daily basis can smell it on the horizon....Festival Season is here.

In fact, the granddaddy of them all is wrapping up this weekend in New Orleans. Now raise your right hand and repeat after me: "I promise, at some point in my lifetime, to experience JazzFest." There's nothing quite like it.

As if we needed another reason to feel blessed in Northern California, the choices for that outdoor festival experience are aplenty. Heading towards Yosemite, the annual Strawberry Music Festival fires up on Memorial Day Weekend (it also unofficially closes Festival Season with its "Fall" shindig over Labor Day). For a shorter travel over Memorial Day, head towards the KPIG Mothership for the Santa Cruz Blues Festival; this year's headliners include Bonnie Raitt and Al Greene.

In June, The Harmony Festival celebrates its 30th Anniversary and features another eclectic lineup. Up the 101 in Mendocino Country, get a great dose of your KPIG favorites at the Kate Wolfe Music Festival, taking place the last weekend in June. The Monterey Blues Festival also celebrates its 23rd year with some of the finest names in blues.

Independence Day is always celebrated by the City Pigs in Quincy California. The High Sierra Music Festival is now in its 18th Year. This intimate festival has it all, whether you're a 4 day party animal or part of a young family. Later in August, Earthdance returns to Laytonville, CA for an end of summer musical party. And we're graced here in San Francisco with the first ever Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park.

And of course...October brings us Hardly Strictly Bluegrass!

Every San Francisco neighborhood hosts fairs and festivals all summer long, as does the surrounding counties and towns. Then there's the national scope, with blue ribbon festivals like Telluride Bluegrass, Bonnaroo, All Good, Wakasura, 10K Lakes, and too many more.

So let's hear from you Pigs out there. What's your favorite Music Festival, both locally and nationally? Just click on that "Email Me" link above and let us know your thoughts. While you're out it, let us know what you think about the Saturday Ham Jam. Who do you recommend as a guest on our show? We read'em all and will respond.

And always, thanks for all the 1510 AM love and support.

Cheers!

-Your friends in the City Sty
