ON AIR TALENT FOR RADIO MONTEREY BAY
Radio Monterey Bay (Mapleton Communications) is looking for Part-Time On-Air Talent for all 5 of our stations.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent for two-year college or technical school. Must have at least 2 years on-air experience for all our on-air positions. An equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Experience and consistent track record in medium or major markets a MUST. This is not n entry level position.
Responsibilities:
Write script, contests and interview questions.
Memorize script, reads, or ad-libs to identify station, introduce and close shows, and announce station breaks, commercials, or public service information.
Prepares and creates a topical show by gathering information from wire copy, periodicals, computer and television.
Reads news flashes to keep audience informed of important events.
Interviews guest, and moderated panel or discussion show to entertain audience.
Answers phone lines and interviews members of listening audience who telephone musical requests. Airs contests according to the specifics of the program director.
Helps plan and stage community events, including hosting and assisting at charity functions.
Attends live, in-person appearances as scheduled by the station or requested by clients.
Provides live reports from site or event.
Maintains and builds a positive cooperative attitude within the station and a strong personal community involvement.
Sets up equipment for broadcasts and promotions at station remotes.
Ensures logged commercials, promotions, sweepers and any other programming element essential to the stations’ operations are aired.
Operates control console.
Performs commercial production.
Follows and enforces FCC regulations, station and company policies, including implementing stations’ / state’s EAS procedures.
Performs additional duties such as production, assisting program director or music director, operating radio transmitter or writing advertising copy. Plays music as specified by music director and music log.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Must have valid driver’s license and meet company insurability policy.

KPIG is planning to conduct interviews for potential on-air DJ positions. Requirements include the responsibilities for real time, practically free-form on-air work. Applicant must have a working knowledge of Americana, A3 and classic rock music, and a passion for music and radio. Production skills and commercial writing are valuable assets to bring to work in this position. A working knowledge of computers is preferred, because the system we have is not what I would call overly user friendly. We only accept applicants who have heard the KPIG product and are comfortable with our unusual format. Only those interested in becoming a part of part of a great radio team need apply.
