This triple-Grammy winning group of consummate musicians and songwriters out of East L.A. began their career interpreting Mexican folk music and went on to be a globally renowned purvayor of a diverse and adventurous repertoire of roots-flavored masterpieces. Drawing from rock, country, blues, folk, R&B, Americana, and traditional Spanish and Latin American idioms, Los Lobos continually pushed the boundaries of their sound, while remaining magnificently gritty and graceful throughout.

After hearing about Los Lobos for the past 3 decades, I just started getting to know their music in recent months, that after reading a commentary in the LA Times on the 20th anniversary of the release of "Kiko" from 1992. I also got to see them open for Neil Young last October at the Hollywood Bowl. "Wolftracks" offers a nice sampling of their work from the past 25-30 years, and it includes songs from several different albums, including "Kiko". It's definitely a good starting point for anyone who doesn't know their music, like I didn't until quite recently. That excludes their cover of "La Bamba" from the 80s. Wish I had got to know this "just another band from East L.A." before now, since I lived more than 8 years in East L.A. myself. I'm looking forward to seeing them live again, too.
How can you discount, The Town, The Valley, Just a Man, Shakin Shakes, Dont Ask Why, Mas y Mas, the Face behind the Glass (?) Lord have Mercy, this group is so gifted, has so many voices. They can rock, they can be so soft and prayerful, and they can Jam, Jam and Jamjam. They get such meager recognition for their multicultural genius. They are an incredibly prolific, incredibly durable group. I just thank the universe and keep buying their offerings searching for the next gem the radio stations wont touch. This group has so many instruments that work the mix. They are a lavish celebration of MUSIC. Thank you so much, Roberto.
I would have an impossible time putting such a CD together, as they would need like 3 or 4 CDs to contain all of my favorites. This CD threads the needle in pulling tracks off of almost all of their releases from like 2004 going back to early eighties, quite a feat but it left me wanting more. A great choice for getting acquainted with the Lobos, and believe to this day they still are a terrific band to see live in the small venues they play!
I first heard Los Lobos on NPR on my truck radio. I liked what I heard, the music, the group itself, its background and musical philosophy. Thought the Best of Los Lobos would be a good introduction and am not disappointed. The singular thing that impresses me is the different genres that they play. They are all good and all expresive.
This CD is really awesome and I play it when I want to feel happy and upbeat. It shows an excellent range of talent for this group. They are ALL great musicians and singers. It came very quickly and I am very pleased with it.
Good starting point if you like this group. I gave it 4 stars because some of the songs are not styles I like. No fault of the band, but they play such a diversity of songs, you may not like all their stuff.
I had a Los Lobos cassette awhile ago and I misplaced it, so when I saw this disc on Amazon I thought I'd order it to replace it! Boy did I forget how happy their music made me feel! Great music and service, I received my delivery promptly and without any hitch,AND in perfect condition...Thank You all for making this Grandma smile
シングル曲、「Let's Say Goodnight」、「Don't Worry Baby」、「Will the Wolf Survive?」、「Shakin' Shakin' Shakes」、「Set Me Free (Rosa Lee)」、「Come On, Let's Go」(全米21位。 このアルバムでは物足りない方には、CD2枚組の「Just Another Band from East L.A.」かCD4枚組ボックス・セットの「El Cancionero: Mas y Mas」の方をおすすめします
