Less a band than the musical equivalent of a Tex-Mex combo platter, the Texas Tornados spotlight the complementary tastes of their four veteran members. This compilation extends from roadhouse rockers by the Sir Douglas Quintet's Doug Sahm ("Who Were You Thinkin' Of," "Adios Mexico") to novelty numbers from his quintet keyboardist Augie Meyers ("Que Paso," "Guacamole") to country and traditional Mexican balladry from Freddy Fender ("Wasted Days and Wasted Nights," "Mentiras"). The accordion virtuosity of Flaco Jimenez adds spice throughout. Since 11 cuts can barely sample the wide range of the group's individual talents, the collection serves as a better introduction than retrospective summation. --Don McLeese

Love this CD listen to this every morning on the way to the gym to get pumped up for the day. If you love Tex Mex this CD is as must to add to your CD collection.
THIS CD IS NOT AS GOOD AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. I HAVE HEARD THEM PERFORM LIVE WITH FREDDY FENDER AND IT WAS EXCELLENT HOWEVER THE QUALITY OF THIS CD IS NOT GREAT
come ho gia detto diverse volte i the best sono fatti per conoscere il gruppo o il cantante è un cd carino con un sound allegro lo ho comprato con piacere
This group of two gringos and two latinos presents a tasty mix from both sides of the Texas/Mexico border. I've been familiar with the accordion skills of Flaco Jimenez from some Ry Cooder albums. He is just as brilliant here. The lead vocals are shared between Doug Sahm in English and Freddy Fender in Spanish and they deliver a nice contrast. The compilation may be a bit on the short side but the track selection is right on the mark. Una mas ceverza, is all that I can say!
