Here's Fluffy, this week's mighty Pet of the Week at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. She's a 13-year-old female spayed domestic medium hair cat with a heartwarming story: After her owner passed away, a caring community of neighbors fed her for nearly five years. Realizing this older feline deserved a cozy indoor life free from outdoor worries, a kind neighbor brought her to the shelter.

Shelter volunteers providing her with TLC all agree: She is the sweetest calico ever! Fluffy sports gorgeous green eyes, a white nose and chest, and beautiful calico markings. She loves being brushed and will eagerly rush out to greet you if you give her a gentle "mew." Outdoor life can be tough, and Fluffy recently had a small patch of fur shaved after getting skunked and developing a rash. Thankfully, her skin is completely healed, and her coat is filling in beautifully! She does not mind being picked up, and volunteers love carrying her to their get-acquainted rooms for cuddle sessions. Come give this deserving girl the forever home she earned!

Her adoption fee is sponsored by a generous donor, so please stop by between the hours of 11am and 4:30pm if you would like to meet her in person. The shelter is open every day from 11-6 but meet and greets end at 4:30pm so to give you and Fluffy some time to get acquainted, they recommend getting here by 4pm.

Saturday, May 30th

"Third Annual Music for the Animals" festival at at the Santa Cruz Cider Co and Buena Vista Brewing at 65 Hangar Way in Watsonville. Locally sourced beer and cider, live music from Michael Gaither & His New Best Friends, vendors and food from Off the Hook sushi. PLUS adoptable dogs! Runs noon to 5:00m. Proceeds benefit the shelter and The Birchbark Foundation.
