Force Field / PLUS Upcoming Shelter Events

Posted: Thursday, July 9, 2026

Meet Force Field, a one-year-old Domestic Shorthair, male black cat who just happens to be the Pet of the Week at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. He's a handsome young kitty ready to meet his forever family after a successful stay with a dedicated foster family. He originally arrived at the shelter with hair loss and skin issues, but our amazing vet care team diagnosed him with skin allergies. Now that his condition is well-managed with a special diet and routine medications, he is back to looking and feeling like a stunning hunk! Fortunately, he absolutely loves his special food and is incredibly easy to medicate and as a bonus, handle for nail trims.

Force Field's super power is fun!

His foster says that he's sweet, smart, outgoing, curious and playful.  He will greet you at the door with a coo and hang out with you throughout the day.  He enjoyed playing with the other cats in his foster home and likely would do well with a slow introduction to a new sibling in the home.

The shelter recommends that Force Field lives indoors with a catio or a large window so that he can continue to watch his favorite cable channel, 'Birds!'.  This smart boy quickly figured out how to use the cat flap that goes out to the catio in his foster home, all on his own, and loves to spend time lounging, pouncing on bugs and practicing his jedi moves.

Force Field is a snuggler and will stand on a counter and put his paws on your shoulders to get pets. He has a sweet little voice and the most beautiful eyes!
