Meet Jax, this week's Pet of the Week at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter. He's a black-and-white Tibetan Terrier who was surrendered due to conflict with another dog in his previous home. At the shelter, he has proven to be incredibly social with people. He loves going for walks, playing in the yard, and is generally a sweet, easygoing guy. While he has been fairly neutral during dog introductions in our care, our staff recommends he be the only dog in the home to ensure his long-term success. He likely wouldn't enjoy dog parks or busy beaches, so a home where he can be the absolute apple of your eye without any competition is the perfect fit.

Tibetan Terriers are known for being highly intelligent and forming strong, loyal bonds with their owners. They also have a low-shedding

coat that can be a great choice for people with allergies. However, because they have a double coat, Jax will require frequent brushing alongside regular baths and grooming.
As "independent thinkers," Tibetans can sometimes show a stubborn streak. Fortunately, with consistency and positive training, they make wonderful companions! Jax has been a total sweetheart with our volunteers and staff, and we know he will be an amazing addition to a committed family.

Upcoming Shelter Events

• Friday, September 4th - Join the shelter for First Friday at 1050 River Street Studio 128 in Santa Cruz to Celebrate "Our Adopted Shelter Pets Art Show". It's from 5-8pm and as a bonus, you will have a chance to meet some of the adoptable dogs.
• Saturday, September  12th - Tickets are still available for Boots on the Green at the Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside.  Get ready for an unforgettable day of live music and incredible vibes. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the shelter. Check out bayonetblackhorse.com/country-music-festival for tickets.
• Sunday, September 13th Join the shelter at the Capitola Wine Festival from 10am-5pm. For more information about the festival check out https://capitolaartandwine.com/
