Pet-O-Rama: Rosalita
Week of September 14th 2026
Posted: Monday, September 14, 2026
Rosalita, this week's Pet of the Week at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter, has been at the shelter since June. She was originally brought in as a stray and was very shy upon arrival, but since then, she has become quite the social butterfly! She is super sweet, will greet you right at the front of her kennel, and loves chin rubs and scratches.
On the outside, Rosalita isn't a showy cat—she doesn't have a big fluffy tail, special markings, or a fancy breed name. But she is a staff and volunteer favorite because she is so beautiful on the inside and maintains such a positive outlook on life.
Many of our young adult cats get overlooked during kitten season, but adopting a one-year-old cat can be truly amazing. By this age, you already know their established personality, making it much easier to find the perfect match for your home. While Rosalita was originally found outdoors, her initial shy nature means she would likely prefer life as an indoor-only cat, where she will be safe from cars and predators.
