KPIG's Weekly Speciality Shows
Posted: Thursday, October 5, 2023
Besides spinning lots of great music, here at KPIG we have lots of great weekly happenings featuring interviews (and music) from both local and touring artists, special live recordings, and behind-the-scenes stories on your favorite pig artists. Here's a list of what's on and when:
Sunday Night Dead - Sundays 6:00 to 9:00pm
The long strange trip comes to the Pig on Sunday nights with Sunday Night Dead. Three hours of Grateful Dead and Dead family music, with your guide Grateful Don Potter.
Reverend Billy C. Wirtz Blues Show - Sundays 9:00 10:00pm
Spend an hour each week with one of our favorite pig artists, who's also quite the scholar in old-school rhythm and blues. You'll learn a bit of music history, and you'll be healed by Billy's rhythm revival.
Fresh Pork Chops - Weeknights 7:00pm
Tune in every weeknight as Ramblin' Ror' spins two songs from a new pig release - and get a chance to win a copy for your very own self.
Neighborhood Night - Wednesdays 9:00 to 9:30pm
Jamie Coffis hangs with a fellow pig artist in the studio or on the phone every week. All the important issues of the day facing musicians are discussed including tour van napping techniques, drink ticket delegation secrets and of course, helpful tips for avoiding loading out the drums.
Alternate Roots - Saturdays 8:00 to 10:00pm
KPIG goes old school each Saturday night, with a good pig heaping of alternate roots, bluegrass, and more. Hosted by Choo Choo Charlie, a bonafide second-generation pig. His grandfather, Cousin Al, hosted KPIG's Sunday night's bluegrass show for decades. In fact, Charlie used to tag along with his grandpa and carry albums up the stairs here at the station. Fun Fact: A doorway hee at theold sty even had pencil marks as Charlie literally grew up here at KPIG.
